So hey, I forgot to mention that I turned 21 a month ago! How's that for being busy? Yup, the anniversary of my messy birth was celebrated on November 3rd, 2007.

Now you might be wondering why you didn't hear anything about my birthday gift, the video processor/scaler. That's because it's riddled with bugs, and other problems. For example, the advanced colour management - one of the entire reasons for me buying the damn thing - didn't even work at 1080p output resolution. Not that this little deal-breaker was actually disclosed to me beforehand, either in the manual, manufacturer's description, or store description, of course. So right now, I'm still trying to get the refund I asked for in early November. I can't say much more than that at this stage, other than that it's a complete fricking headache.
Since that particular plan didn't work out, I've went ahead with plan B: the 1080p projector setup. In the next two weeks, once the backlog of orders is sorted out, a Sony VPL-VW60 - that's their SXRD 1080p projector nicknamed the "Black Pearl" by the AV crowd - will be arriving from Tokyo (which is costing me a good few thousand pounds less than the ridiculous UK asking price). And after that, I'll be able to figure out exactly what screen to get for the thing. Da-Lite have sent me a book of screen samples, so I'll be ordering 90-100 inches of whatever works best. All of this, hopefully in time for Christmas.
Despite the fact that I have "the patience of a saint" (someone else's quote, not mine - you don't think I'd make a religious connotation like that, do you), it's going to be hard wait, but it looks like things are starting to move again at last.
