Scary Movie BD made scarier by film grain reduction

AVS Forum user benes has posted image grabs of what looks like one of the worst High Def transfers I've seen yet - Disney/Buena Vista's release of SCARY MOVIE (reviewed here). It suffers from some of the most outrageously crap spatial film grain reduction I've seen to date and makes the entire film look like plastic. According to users of the forum, it looks even worse when it moves - and let's not even mention the degree of edge enhancement.

The Spatial NR in this frame is so bad that it's even removed part of the fence mesh in the background!

As if we needed any fewer reasons to watch 1080p Wayans Brothers movies. Film grain reduction: just say NO.

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick. And some people claim that Buena Vista's Blu-ray releases are consistently the best?

:-o ... That is horrific.

Considering the film is very popular, you would expect a great transfer. Very very strange. :(

You'd think that, wouldn't you, but in practice it rarely works that way. Some of the most popular films have some of the most underwhelming transfers. Look at the Lord of the Rings DVDs, for instance.
