I grew up reading the British translations of the Asterix books, and for a good few years I adored the movies, despite their shortcomings. A brand new box set has just been released in France, which shows three of the films in widescreen, unlike many of the previous DVD releases.
Sadly, a new problem has been introduced for this all new set that WASN'T on the previous releases, or the French video tapes. Yes, the new Asterix set has some mild DVNR. Luckily, it doesn't crop up much and the set is still very much worth getting if you enjoy these films. When the DVNR problems do show up, they are very annoying.
For all its faults though, the new French set is the one to get (although be warned it doesn't have English audio or subtitles). DVNR'd or not, at least you get the whole film.

In "Le Coup Du Menhir" (called "Asterix and the Big Fight" in English speaking countries), Panoramix transforming presents a problem.

The chase at the end also exhibits mild DVNR problems.

Luckily, this problem doesn't show up much, but as I said when it does, it's very easy to spot.
