miscellaneous

This is the area of the site where I give room to anything I want to get off my chest that I think is too big or too important to just pass by as a news posting. It's also where I put other miscellaneous stuff, hence the name.

a/v crap

A page full of my A/V Crap. It has pictures of what movies look like on my HDTV. Woohoo!

quick and dirty tv setup

The Quick & Dirty TV setup guide tells you how to make your newly purchased, just-turned-on HDTV look like it should - not crap!

tips for good custom covers

A lot of custom covers - like the kind I do for DVDs and games - fall short of near-professionalism, making them interesting, but failed attempts at bettering the official box art. Operation: Secrets and Lies

Operation: Secrets & Lies is the thrilling tale of how a 17-year-old me and my school friend pilfered our way into ECTS (not hard) by pretending to be games journalists. OK, pretending to be proper games journalists. Although I didn't realise it at the time of writing, this was actually the last ECTS ever, which honestly isn't that big a loss. We also went to Game Stars Live, which was open to the public, and got to play Halo 2 before you did, before tittering like schoolgirls at the mediocricy of Electronic Arts' then-upcoming software catalog.

a chat with John Kricfalusi

The transcript of a chat, in which I was lucky enough to talk to who's probably the greatest cartoonist alive today. The chat was organised by the people behind the (now defunct) MOTLOS forum, and this is an edited transcript of the questions that got asked.

Shenmue 2

You are entering the Sega Dreamcast's twilight zone! Not critical or broad enough for a review, this is probably worth a read if you're interested in Shenmue 2 but have only heard about it, or perhaps if you just want to wallow in the warm, soapy nostalgia.
